Additional Learning Needs and Inclusion

At Rhosddu we believe passionately in a child centred approach, supporting each and every child to be ‘the best version of themselves that they can be’. We meet children at their individual starting points and tailor the curriculum to meet their needs, enabling them to progress and develop holistically. Our approach to inclusion recognises that there may be many factors that can influence a child’s ability to learn such as Wellbeing, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), English as an Additional Language (EAL) and the impact of poverty, all of which are taken into account when developing packages of support.

We follow a graduated approach, assessing need and offering early intervention to those who require additional support at a universal, targeted universal and individual level. We offer a wide range of evidence- based interventions centred around the four areas of additional learning need: sensory and physical, cognition and learning, communication and interaction, social and emotional. We also have excellent working relationships with outside agencies and work closely with them on specific bespoke interventions where needed.
